It's no secret....to us here at Author, there isn't anything that gets our hearts racing more than a proper hand made, 
welted shoe and it seems there is someone who shares our enthusiam about the subject.

After being engrossed in an article in the Evening Standard written by new found (well made) shoe lover Joshi Herrmann we just couldn't help but
share our thoughts on the following matter too...

First up Joshi begins to inform us about his movement from buying high street shoes, that will fall to bits within a few months, to
the dawning 'Wide eyed' moment he walked down Jermyn Street in London, where his shoe world completely changed. He begins to widen his knowledge about leather soles and is introduced to a well known Welted Shoe Makers, named Loakes.



Now Loakes are up on our list  of being, lets face it, a bloody incredibly well made pair of shoes. Leather soles, 
Welted, Stitched, finest leather and gorgeous colouring to the leathers that they use, all for an amazing price range...really if
you're wanting to try a shoe of great (Northampton made) quality, Loakes are a great way to start.  All in all as Joshi 
puts it, the 'hallmark to a good British shoe' and we couldn't agree more.  

He then moves on to discuss that 'A good shoe should outlive you'. Countless loyal customers of ours are dedicated to
buying high quality, which in turn definitely repays you. Think about it, a new pair of shoes every 6 months because yours have
fallen apart for £60? OR a pair of shoes that lasts you 20 years for £300...you do that math. Worth it right?

As you can see they have gone for a super glossy high shine, gallery esque finish to the store with added quirks like palm trees and bright neon lights. We'd say tropical but sleek, and we have to say its looking pretty amazing in there. 











They have a collection of many different Melissa shoes for ladies, gents and kiddies so all the family is sorted and if you're curious of what to get a loved one for Christmas, then you are bound to find a pair of perfection in this Melissa Store.

Head on down there, its a pure treat AND the only one you will find on the streets of London Town. Plus the shop smells like sweets constantly...doesn't get better than that right? 

These boots are proper life savers! trust us, they sell out VERY VERY fast when the bad weather comes! Here's a little more about them. They keep your feet nice and warm up to -30 degrees outside (now thats cold) and keep them protected from very harsh weather. Originally from Canada they will obviously be excellent boots for this sort of bad weather. 

The grip on the boots also ensure you won't be slipping and sliding when its a bit icy out. All in all you can't get a better boot for when snow hits!!

NEW SHOE ALERT!! Well it looks like that time of year again where we're thinking about boots again!! I don't know about you lot but i'm certainly going to cling onto my flip flops for as long as possible, they just aren't ready to go back in the wardrobe yet! 

Anyhow it's super exciting to start seeing new styles coming through the door and with the summer being, lets face it, non existent boots are a pretty handy thing to have.

Check out these Cara boots called Laurie, they come in tan and black and can be worn with pretty much anything! Our lovely girls in our Soho Store modelled them, and don't they look amazing?

Did you see them last night? Of course you did...IT'S THE SPICE GIRLS!!! Well we pretty much couldn't get enough of them last night and today we're on our little Spice obsession trip and have picked out the Ultimate Spice Shoe for you all to have a gander at. 

So here we have it, massive platform a la Ginger style! These Melissa shoes are not one to miss, super comfy, practical for when you've have too much spiced rum and perfect for getting your groove onto Wannabe!!

How could any spice fan live without them?

Our 'Shoe Love' of the day is just too pretty for words. Our very own design named Anabelle comes in red with a black bow or black with a red bow...but we can't decide whats prettier?! 

We can imagine jiving the night away in these vintage inspired beauties, now all we need is a pretty tea dress, victory rolls in our hair and a time machine to take us back to the 1940's .

My favorite is our own design named Alba, its a beautiful two tone brogue, my fave colour being the beige and cream! So comfortable too!

I put an outfit together with accessories, they can change your look in an instant

Check out our Queenie with the Fulton, Birdcage umberella which we have just got a delivery of here at Author Shoes! The Royals are firm fans on Fulton, and why shouldn't they be? Perfect umberella's for our up and down British summers that can withstand the worst weather conditions from wind to all the way through to our winter. 


I wonder which one she chose?! We love the red one personally....


We're adoring the Birdcage mainly because of its visability reasons and its amazing see through dome shaped cover. Put it this way, you won't ever bump into anyone again with this gem of a brolly. 

As the saying goes, if it's good enough for Our Liz, then it's good enough for us.

Perdita is rocking the Kensington Carrie by Dr Martins and these pretty little floral numbers retail at £80!! They are a great twist on the original Dr Martins, more feminine and super cute how Perdita is wearing them!!

impossible. But recently I’ve been living in my Lola's (Authors
ballerina) - I have 5 different colours!!!

How do you put together an outfit?
It’s all about the shoes or accessories. I always want to wear a
statement piece. A necklace or bright in your face shoes - I’m no
shrinking violet.

I just put on whatever I see first really. When I buy new clothes they
always tend to fit in with my look so it’s never hard for me when
deciding what to wear as everything matches.

Ssssshhhh! We have a little secret to let you in on thats about to take place here at Author. Our City Store has to be one of the most beautiful shops in London Town. Dating back to the 1800's it is a stunning listed building and all original deco features...it even survived the war unscathed! 

So back to the secret, up until now we have had only one floor of the building open containing the most beautifully made shoes, but as the months have passed since our opening in January we have been buying lots of amazing quality menswear accessories for all you lucky chaps!

From socks, braces and cufflinks, we have it all and it will all be housed on our second floor of the store in a absolutely stunning grand room! Its completely worth the visit to our City shop and see all its finery!

The nearest tube is Moorgate and the address is 118 London Wall, EC2Y 5JA! See you there!!

Heres a sneak peak of what to expect...EXCITING TIMES...and keep your eyes out for when the second floor will be opening, it's going to be a real treat.

 

We don't hide the fact that we can't get enough of our Melissa range especially these delightful little glittery numbers!! 

Completely made out of plastic these shoes not only look amazing but are super practical if you get caught in the rain (which is a pretty huge reason as to why we love them).

Also have you smelt Melissa's before? If not, just imagine walking into a bubblegum shop and you're half way there! They are just perfect in every way and all our Author girls & boys are completely addicted to buying them! These glitter dreams come in three colours, gold, blush and mixed glitter, all as equally shiny as each other!

Sunday see's in the ever so classic shoe by Pointer. Again a very versatile style that can be worn by anyone and everyone with pretty much anything. From pretty floral dresses to leggings and an oversized tee these shoes are perfect for any occasion. 

As you can probably tell Author Shoes are loving two tone brogue style shoes at the moment, and by our choices you can see why!

What do you guys think to Author having a shoe of the day? Pretty sweet right? Yes we thought so.
